Thin Models

So, this blog is about to take a turn, hopefully for the better, but I can't make any promises. I guess it doesn't matter because really it's just more of a therapy thing for me. I have obsessed about my appearance and weight in some way or another as most women do, but I'm sick of the shame and guilt surrounding my own weight so I want to write about it. I think that it's something that most women I know can relate to and I want to share my journey with you. I read that most people would rather date a drug addict than someone who is overweight. Really?! Rather date a drug addict! In general (and I don't think I am being overly harsh in my assessment), drug addicts can be real assholes; selfish, narcissistic, and manipulative. The majority of people would rather have THAT than someone who is overweight! WOW! Here's the thing, it's not that people aren't wonderful to me and tell me I'm beautiful. I have that, thanks to wonderful friends and family. It's just that society is screaming pretty loudly the complete opposite. I don't want this blog to be a bitch-fest, just want to share some insights into the Obese Obsessed Roller Coaster. I know there are far worse things to struggle with, but this is mine and maybe someone out there can relate. Maybe we as a society can change the way we approach the overweight person. Today I read this article online. They are starting to do touch up's on skinny models to make them look more curvy. I thought this was interesting...in one way this is good, but they can't hire women who actually look this way? Maybe that is the way things will go now. What do you think?

Re upholstered: Before & After

I found this great fabric at Home Fabrics in Mesa for $3 a yard! It really gives these bar stools a nice pick-me-up.

re-do

Remember the purple and gold painting I had in the dining room at the Mesa house? Well, I re-did it for the new house in Tucson. It needed to have more depth and a deeper color so I mixed a darker purple and applied it in a circular pattern. I also added little accents to the gold...I think it's a lot better and it coordinates with the new living room much better. Happy Day!

Headboard continued...

This is what I finally ended up with for my headboard. It is a metal headboard with the fabric fitted over it in a slip-cover of sorts. I was happy with the result.

Kitchen & Living Room Art

I framed my line drawing from a school project with gray matting and then re-painted the two paintings to the left of it with purples and a golden brown hue. They are pretty dark, but I like it.

The large purple painting in the dining area is 36 X 36 inches and has the golden brown painted over with gold. I really like the two together. I think I might make the purple a bit deeper eventually, but for now it does the trick. I also made those curtains hanging to the right of it. They are a nice pop of color to the room. It needed something that had more interest. I'm very happy with how this one turned out, even though I would make some changes.

I didn't like the headboard so low to the ground, so I got a bed. Now the only problem is that my night stands are too low. I'm thinking I could stack a couple of them on top of each other to get the height I want. They are just those inexpensive tables from IKEA, so for two of them it would still only be about $16 for each night stand. Hummm...that could work.

I added the curtain too and I like the softness that it adds to the room. You can't tell in this picture, but it has a nice geometric pattern on it too.

I do like how the pictures above the bed turned out. Each image or item is something that is dear to me; a few of my favorite things:)
